Keshem

After visiting Keshem Valley in May of 2007, I have decided that this place not only makes it on the list, but actually tops all the rest.  Keshem Valley holds my award for the most beautiful place in Afghanistan.  I really have a hard time putting into words how amazingly beautiful this place is.  By matter of comparison, you've got to think Switzerland.  It's a green valley with lots of farms on the lower part of the valley, and lots of high mountain pastures at the higher end.  The whole valley is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and is cut by a clean, gushing river.  It's far away, and hard to get to, but worth every effort to get there.  I highly recommend traveling to Keshem for a trek.  It is absolutely amazing.
